This form was traditionally made to store homemade moonshine, which was actively traded and consumed from inland Appalachia to the coastal South. Now the jug makes a fantastic display piece and conversation starter. The decoration on this piece references the tobacco fields I’ve seen sprinkled in the mountains of Appalachia. The drawing is hand-stippled into the surface of the slip to make a subtle pattern. This pot is made from a dense earthenware clay. It is dishwasher/microwave safe and ready for daily use.
